Tinubu reinstates suspended finance permanent secretary Danjuma

President Bola Tinubu has reinstated M.S. Danjuma as Permanent Secretary, Finance (Special Duties), in the Federal Ministry of Finance, two months after his suspension.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Olumuyiwa Enitan Abel, conveyed the President’s approval in a letter dated October 22, 2026.

According to the statement, Danjuma’s reinstatement took effect from October 21, 2026, with a directive to resume his official duties immediately.

Tinubu had approved Danjuma’s suspension alongside two other permanent secretaries on August 21, 2026, following a report by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.

The report concerned the activities of a purported agency known as the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office, allegedly promoted by George Buchi Nwabueze, with the suspected active involvement of public servants in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

However, following what the statement described as due diligence, the President lifted Danjuma’s suspension and directed him to resume his responsibilities in line with the Public Service Rules, applicable regulations and ethical standards governing the Federal Civil Service.

The statement did not provide details of the findings that informed the decision to reinstate Danjuma or indicate the status of the suspensions of the two other permanent secretaries.
