My Transformative Journey in Disability Inclusion Reporting

In 2023, I was scrolling through social media when I came across a post on X about a training fellowship on disability inclusion. I was deeply inspired and reached out to the organizers, expressing my desire to be trained in this field.

That's how I met Mr. Yinka Olaito, the founder of the Africa Foundation for Young Media Professionals. A year later, I received a call from him announcing that they were coming to Abuja for a two-day Disability and Inclusion Training. That call was one of the happiest days of my life, as it aligned perfectly with my passion for disability inclusion. I shared the good news with a few people who knew about my dedication to this cause.

Despite my passion, I knew I needed to develop my skills and learn how to effectively report on issues related to disability inclusion. The training provided by Mr. Olaito was exactly what I needed. Over the course of two intensive days, he and the facilitator he invited generously shared their knowledge and expertise, equipping the participants, including myself, with invaluable skills to report on inclusion.

I am immensely grateful to Mr. Olaito for his dedication and for pouring himself into the training. His encouragement has been instrumental in my journey, and I am now more determined than ever to be a voice for people with disabilities. This experience has been transformative, and I look forward to continuing my work in this important area, inspired and supported by the guidance I received.
