. org has partnered with the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities,JONAPWD to host a watch party for the Inclusive Africa Conference 2024.
inABLE.org is a nonprofit based in Kenya and USA with a mission to empower the blind & visually impaired in Africa through computer assistive technology whileJONAPWD is an umbrella organization of persons with disability established in Nigeria to promote the rights and development of Nigerians with disabilities.
The 5th Inclusive Africa Conference watch party which was held on Tuesday in Abuja, Nigeria, brought together over 50 participants from across the federal capital territory to virtually engage in the conference proceedings.
The watch party served as a hub of engagement and discussion, allowing attendees to participate remotely in the significant discussions and sessions of the conference. With a focus on breaking barriers and advancing digital accessibility for a disability-inclusive future in Africa, the conference attracted more than 300 participants, including experts, innovators, entrepreneurs, and government officials from various African countries.
Throughout the day, participants delved into crucial topics such as the affordability of assistive technologies, mental health support for persons with disabilities, and inclusive healthcare utilizing assistive technologies. These discussions provided valuable insights into the challenges faced by persons with disabilities across the continent and explored innovative solutions to foster inclusivity.
The watch party not only facilitated virtual participation but also provided an opportunity for attendees to mingle and network with persons with disabilities, fostering a sense of community and solidarity. It was a reminder of the importance of collaboration and collective action in driving meaningful change towards a more accessible and equitable society.
