Wife of the Kogi State Governor, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, has empowered over 100 women with sewing and grinding machines, urging them to use the tools for economic growth. The initiative, which took place at the Government House in Lokoja, was part of the Ododo Cares Empowerment Programme organized by the state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
During the event, Hajia Sefinat emphasized the importance of women maximizing every available opportunity for self-improvement. “I enjoin women across the country to maximize every opportunity available to them to improve their lot,” she stated.
She further explained that the distribution of the equipment was aimed at supporting small and medium-scale businesses across the state. “This gesture is aimed at boosting small and medium-scale businesses across the state,” she said, adding that beneficiaries should make good use of the items to support their families. She also warned against selling the items. “You need to put the items to good use, support your families, and I warn you against the sale of the items,” she cautioned.
Reaffirming the administration's dedication to poverty alleviation, the Kogi First Lady praised her husband, Governor Usman Ododo, for his commitment to wealth creation. "Governor Usman Ododo remains committed to fostering an environment that promotes wealth creation for all citizens," she said, highlighting the government's consistent efforts in empowering women and the wider population to break free from poverty.
Hajia Sefinat also expressed her gratitude to the Kogi State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Fatima Momoh, for her leadership and continued support. “I express my appreciation to the Kogi State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Fatima Momoh, for her initiatives and steadfastness in supporting women in the state through the ministry,” she concluded.
The Ododo Cares Empowerment Programme continues to serve as a lifeline for women seeking economic empowerment across Kogi State.
