The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said it has not fixed any date for the resumption of the Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, including transfers and the replacement of lost Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs.
The clarification followed a message circulating online claiming that INEC would restart CVR and other related services on May 27, 2025.
Reacting to the viral message, INEC, in a statement released on Sunday, Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman,Rotimi Oyekanmi, urged Nigerians to disregard the information, describing it as fake and not from the Commission.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) wishes to inform the general public that it has not yet announced any date for the resumption of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), Transfer and Replacement of lost Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs),” the statement said.
“The Commission therefore urges the public to disregard the fake, anonymous statement making the rounds, claiming that the CVR and other associated services will resume on 27th May 2025,” it added.
INEC also assured Nigerians that, as is customary, the date for the resumption of voter registration will be announced officially through proper channels.
“In line with its tradition, the Commission will publicly announce the date for the resumption of the CVR at the appropriate time, the full details of which will also be shared via our official social media platforms,” the statement concluded.
