Team Nigeria Paralympians Return with 2 Golds Among 7 Medals

Team Nigeria athletes to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games have returned home, bringing back a total of seven medals, including two gold, two silver, and three bronze. The victorious team arrived in batches over the past two days, with the golden Para-Powerlifters landing first at 11 p.m. Nigeria time on Monday via Air Maroc, followed by the Para-Table Tennis players who touched down at 8 a.m. on Tuesday via Qatar Airways. The Para-Athletics team completed the return at noon the same day.

President of the Paralympic Committee Nigeria (PCN), Sunday Odebode, expressed immense gratitude, giving God all the glory for the safe return of the athletes. He also extended his appreciation to the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, for his unwavering support throughout the Games.

Prof. Mariam Adefunke Suleiman, President of the National Association of Nigeria Women in Sports (NAWIS), also celebrated the athletes' safe return, thanking God for guiding and protecting them on their journey.

The returning Paralympians were warmly welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, thanks to the efforts of Mrs. Nkana Mbora, the FMSD Lagos Liaison officer, who mobilized Lagosians to greet the victorious team.

Nigeria’s strong showing at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games continues the country’s legacy of excellence in international para-sports, with the athletes already looking forward to the next chapter in their careers after a successful campaign in France.
