The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) FCT Chapter has congratulated Mrs. Edna D. Azura on her inauguration as the 16th National President of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS).
In a statement signed by its Chairperson, Comrade Bassey Ita-Ikpang, and Assistant Secretary, Laraba Murey, NAWOJ FCT described Azura’s emergence as a recognition of her dedication and commitment to women’s rights and welfare.
“Your emergence is a testament to your dedication, experience, and commitment to advancing the rights and welfare of women in Nigeria,” the statement read.
NAWOJ FCT expressed optimism that Azura’s leadership would foster unity and deliver impactful initiatives that would benefit women nationwide.
“We are confident that your leadership will bring renewed energy and impactful initiatives to the NCWS, fostering greater inclusion, unity, and progress for women across the nation,” Ita-Ikpang added.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the NCWS in achieving shared goals aimed at promoting gender equality and social development.
“As partners in advocacy for gender equality and social development, NAWOJ FCT pledges its support and looks forward to collaborating with you in achieving shared goals,” the statement concluded.
Azura was inaugurated as the NCWS National President on January 17
, 2025, amid commendations from women’s groups and stakeholders across the country.
