APC convention: Abba Isa lauds Tinubu, says 8,000 PWDs get cash support, 5,000 trained

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Mohammed Abba Isa, on Friday lauded Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying no fewer than 8,000 persons with disabilities have benefited from cash support programmes, while over 5,000 have been trained under Federal Government initiatives.

Abba Isa disclosed this while delivering a goodwill message at the 4th National Elective Convention of the All Progressives Congress held at Eagle Square, Abuja.

He described the convention as a reflection of the party’s democratic ideals and commitment to inclusive governance, while commending the President’s leadership and policy direction.

Highlighting the impact of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the presidential aide said the approval of a 10 per cent reservation for vulnerable groups in social intervention programmes had expanded access to opportunities for persons with disabilities.

According to him, over 8,000 PWDs have benefited from the Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme, while more than 500 have accessed educational support through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund.

He added that over 5,000 persons with disabilities have participated in training and skill acquisition programmes across the country.

“These are not just numbers but lives transformed and futures secured,” he said.

Abba Isa also noted that the administration’s economic reforms were beginning to yield results, citing improvements in key indicators, including inflation trends, investor confidence and foreign exchange stability.

He further pointed to Nigeria’s exit from the Financial Action Task Force grey list and increased investments in the oil sector as signs of growing global confidence in the economy.

Reaffirming the support of persons with disabilities for the ruling party, he said the community remained committed to nation-building and democratic development.

He, however, called for sustained efforts to strengthen policies that promote accessibility, inclusion and equal opportunities for all Nigerians.

The convention, attended by top government officials and party stakeholders, ended with renewed calls for unity and stronger internal democracy within the party.
