The Emir of Dutse, Hamim Nuhu, has urged women to reduce their expectations to make marriage easier for young people.
He made the call on Wednesday during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Female Ramadan Tafsir held at the Central Mosque in Dutse, Jigawa State.
The monarch stressed the need for simplicity in marriage, noting that unrealistic demands were making it difficult for many youths to get married.
He said promoting modesty and reducing expectations would help young people build families with ease, adding that “less is more” when it comes to marriage.
The emir also emphasised the importance of good parenting, urging mothers to raise their children to become responsible leaders.
He expressed satisfaction with the turnout of women at the Tafsir and encouraged them to continue seeking knowledge for personal and societal development.
Also speaking, the Commander-General of the Jigawa State Hisba Board, Fa’iz Bashir, said the board remained committed to promoting moral values in society.
He urged women to be obedient to their husbands in line with Islamic teachings and the example of Prophet Muhammad.
Bashir reiterated the board’s commitment to upholding discipline and societal values.
In his remarks, the cleric who led the Tafsir, Rabi’u Yahaya, commended the women for their dedication to learning.
He warned against actions that could harm marriages, including gossip and disobedience, stressing that women play a key role in building stable families and a better society.
