Ramadan: Gombe begins palliative distribution for persons with disabilities

The Gombe State Government has commenced the distribution of Ramadan food palliatives to persons with disabilities across the state.

The exercise, coordinated by the Gombe State Commission for Persons with Disabilities, was flagged off on Sunday at the commission’s temporary office in Tudun Wada, Gombe.

The distribution is part of efforts by the state government to cushion the impact of economic hardship on vulnerable groups during the Ramadan period.

Speaking at the event, officials of the commission said the initiative targets persons with disabilities across all local government areas of the state.

The palliatives, which include bags of rice and sugar, are expected to support beneficiaries in meeting basic food needs during the fasting period.

The programme follows the earlier launch of the Ramadan food distribution by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya on February 27 at the state warehouse along Bajoga Road.

The government said the intervention reflects its commitment to inclusive welfare and social protection for vulnerable residents.

Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely support amid rising living costs.
