The Leprosy and Tuberculosis Relief Initiative (LTR), in partnership with ASA Health Partners and the Yobe State Agency for the Control of AIDS (YOSACA), has commenced targeted tuberculosis (TB) screening for children in Sabon Gari, Nangere Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The Media and Communication Officer of LTR, Saleh Farouq Gagarawa, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, noting that the intervention focuses on children aged 0–10 years.
Gagarawa said the initiative is aimed at addressing the persistent gap in pediatric TB detection by proactively identifying undiagnosed cases, ensuring early diagnosis, and linking affected children to prompt treatment and care.
He explained that in high-burden settings, children remain disproportionately underserved due to diagnostic challenges and limited access to healthcare services.
According to him, the intervention reflects LTR’s commitment to strengthening community-level response, improving equity in service delivery, and advancing efforts towards ending tuberculosis.
He added that through strategic collaboration and community-focused implementation, the organisation remains committed to ensuring that no child is left behind in the fight against TB.
