Nkata Ndi Inyom Igbo Foundation, NNIIF, a socio-cultural organization dedicated to advancing the interests and values of Igbo women, is set host its annual conference on December 3, 2024, in Abuja.
With the theme, “Driving Transformation through Value Re-orientation, Inclusive Leadership and Sustainability,” is targeted to bring leaders and stakeholders committed to fostering unity, sustainable development, and progressive dialogue in Nigeria.
According to NNIIF, the conference will be chaired by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, and will feature His Royal Highness Khalifa Sanusi II, Sarkin Kano, as the Father of the Day.
The Mother of the Day will be Dame Timi Agary, who, alongside a notable lineup of speakers, will lend insights into tackling some of Nigeria’s most pressing issues.
Speakers will include prominent figures such as Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko; the Minister of Works, H.E. Dave Umahi; former Imo State Governor, H.E. Owelle Rochas Okorocha; former Aviation Minister Osita Chidoka; Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission; H.E. Labaran Maku, former Minister of Information; Dr. Stella Iwuagwu; H.E. Erelu Olabisi Adeleye-Fayemi; and Dame May Ikokwu.
Together, they will explore the importance of re-orienting values, promoting inclusive leadership, and pursuing sustainable development.
Founded by former Minister of Women Affairs and an esteemed social and gender advocate, Josephine Anenih, was established in 2020, amid the global COVID-19 pandemic, with the aim of creating a platform for Igbo women to engage in constructive dialogue.
"Nkata," meaning "conversation" in Igbo, signifies the foundation's mission to foster open discussions on regional and national issues that can build bridges across communities.
According to Anenih, "Conversations are key to unity and progress, and through this event, we aim to address values that hold us together as Nigerians."
Since its inception, NNIIF has held conferences in Lagos and Enugu, each addressing significant issues. The decision to host this year’s event in Abuja underscores the foundation’s commitment to national impact, ensuring the discussions reach key decision-makers at the heart of the nation’s capital.
NNIIF's National Publicity Secretary, Nnedinso Ogaziechi, expressed deep gratitude to the Nigerian media, commending their partnership since the organization’s founding. “We recognize the critical role of the media as partners in progress,” she stated. “Their support is invaluable as we strive to address issues of national unity, economic progress, and sustainable development.”
NNIIF invites all members of the public to join in this important event, as the organization reaffirms its belief in the power of women to drive positive change. "Together, we hope to inspire a renewed commitment to unity, inclusive leadership, and sustainability in Nigeria."
The conference is open to all and will begin at 9:00 a.m. on December 3 at Sandirilia Hotel, Abuja.
