NAWOJ FCT seeks NTA partnership to promote women’s voices

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), FCT Chapter, has sought a strategic partnership with NTA Channel 5 Abuja to amplify women’s voices, especially at the grassroots.

During a visit to the station, NAWOJ FCT Chairperson, Comrade Bassey Ita Ikpang, who is also an NTA staff member, appreciated NTA for its continuous support of the association’s activities.

“NTA has been a strong pillar in promoting credible journalism. As women journalists, we recognize the power of collaboration in amplifying our voices, especially for those at the grassroots,” Ikpang stated.

In response, Mr. Paul Atte, General Manager of NTA Channel 5 Abuja, reaffirmed the station’s commitment to supporting NAWOJ’s mission, stressing the role of women in shaping society.

“This collaboration is not just timely; it is essential. Women are the backbone of society, and giving them a stronger platform aligns with our vision of balanced and inclusive media representation,” Atte remarked.

The discussions marked the beginning of a stronger partnership aimed at promoting gender-sensitive reporting and empowering women ahead of International Women’s Day.
