NCWS Unveils Financial Support for Women Entrepreneurs

The National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) has launched a financial support initiative for women entrepreneurs in Nigeria.

The initiative, which was unveiled at an event marking International Women's Day in Abuja, aims to provide financial assistance to women-owned businesses.

According to the NCWS President, Princess Edna D.D Azura, the initiative is part of the council's efforts to empower women and promote gender equality.

"We believe that empowering women is key to achieving sustainable development," Azura said. "This financial support initiative is designed to help women entrepreneurs overcome the financial barriers that hinder their businesses."

The NCWS President also commended the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her Renewed Hope initiative, which has been supporting women empowerment programs across the country.

Also speaking, Chizoba Ogbeche, National Vice President of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists, Northcentral, emphasized the importance of accelerating action for women's empowerment in Nigeria.

Ogbeche highlighted the need for women to have a place at the table to influence policies that affect them and other vulnerable groups. She also noted that Nigerian women will be joining other women from around the world for the CSW meeting in New York, where they will share their story and emphasize that while progress has been made, more needs to be done.

The event featured a symposium with the sub-theme, "The Future is Now: Empowering Women and Youths to Thrive." The NCWS President emphasized the importance of empowering women and youths to take control of their futures, and investing in their education, skills development, and economic empowerment.

The financial support initiative is expected to benefit hundreds of women-owned businesses across Nigeria.
