The Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) has announced plans to host a Facebook Live dialogue aimed at advancing political representation and leadership of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Nigeria.
The event, themed “Beyond Voting: Advancing Political Representation and Leadership of Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria,” is scheduled to hold on March 19, 2026, at 1:00 pm via the association’s official Facebook page.
In a statement, the organisers said the dialogue is part of ongoing conversations around inclusive democracy and the need to strengthen the participation of persons with disabilities in Nigeria’s political space.
The session will feature the Executive Director of Inclusive Friends Association (IFA), Grace Jerry, as guest speaker. She is expected to provide practical insights on improving political visibility for PWDs, enhancing community engagement, and creating leadership pathways that ensure meaningful representation.
According to the organisers, the initiative seeks to move conversations beyond voting rights to active involvement in leadership and decision-making processes.
The event is being organised in collaboration with the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room, which continues to support efforts geared towards inclusive governance and electoral participation.
JONAPWD urged stakeholders, advocates, and members of the public to join the live session and contribute to discussions that promote equity and inclusion in Nigeria’s democratic process.
