LASODA Calls for Equal Opportunities for Women with Disabilities in Leadership

The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has reiterated the urgent need for greater inclusion of women with disabilities in leadership and governance spaces.

Speaking at the 7th Edition of the Women in Governance Conference held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at The Civic Center, Anthonio Hall, Ikoyi, Lagos, LASODA’s General Manager, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, emphasized that leadership is incomplete without equitable opportunities for marginalized groups.

“Inclusion is not just about representation; it’s about building systems that empower every woman—regardless of her abilities or background—to reach her full potential,” she said.

The high-profile event, organized in collaboration with the Association of Corporate Governance Professionals of Nigeria (ACGPN), brought together women leaders, policymakers, and governance experts under the theme “Women in Leadership: Navigating Challenges and Seizing Opportunities.”

Representing the Lagos First Lady, Dr. Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, Mrs. Oyinkansola Osiyemi reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment. Other dignitaries included ACGPN Council Chairman, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, and several women leaders across multiple sectors.

Participants engaged in dialogue and collaboration, exploring strategies to dismantle barriers and leverage opportunities to drive sustainable change in governance and leadership.
